Eleebana Gas Fitting Services

The gas work splits three ways:

Gas Appliance Installation

New cooktops, wall ovens, space heaters, outdoor bayonets and pool heater lines, fitted and signed off. See gas appliance installation in Eleebana.

Gas Leak Detection and Repair

Rotten-egg smells, weak flames and pressure drops traced with a detector, then fixed. See gas leak detection in Eleebana.

Gas Hot Water

Gas storage tanks and continuous-flow units, fitted and repaired through the gas hot water options.

How Do You Know a Fitting Is Failing?

Gas faults rarely announce themselves loudly, but they do leave tracks. These are the ones worth acting on:

  • A sulphur smell near a cooktop, heater or the meter, even a faint one that fades and returns.
  • An appliance that lights reluctantly, burns yellow instead of blue, or cuts out mid-use.
  • A heater that smells dusty or odd on first start-up each winter and never quite settles.
  • Outside bayonets and fittings showing green or white corrosion, a sign salt air off the lake is working on bare metal.

Any one of those earns a check. A smell that lingers means ring straight away.

How the Gas Work Runs

  1. 1

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4063 3469 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 2

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 3

Test, then work, then test again

The line is pressure-checked before anything is disconnected, the appliance or section is fitted or repaired, and a final pass with the gas detector confirms the whole run is sound before the certificate is signed.

  4. 4

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

What Moves the Figure on a Gas Job?

On gas, a shortcut is a safety risk to everyone in the house, so the price covers doing it properly.

"We had an urgent gas problem that required immediate attention at our home…on a Friday afternoon. … Identified the issue, fixed and tested" Lee

The figure turns on the run, the pipe and the timing:

  • The length of any new pipe, and whether it runs through walls, under the floor or along an outside wall.
  • The pipe already in the house: an original line can be too small for a modern cooker or heater, and upgrading it is part of the quote.
  • Night or weekend timing, which has its own rate and is stated on the call.

When we're not the right call: the meter and the pipe from the street belong to the gas distributor, so a leak there, or a smell right at the meter, goes to their emergency number. We work only on pipes and appliances downstream of the meter.

The Estate Connects Late, and It Shows

Gas came later here

The brick-veneer homes went up as a planned estate from 1976, and mains gas was hooked up to many of them after they were finished. Pipe sized for a single cooker back then can run short when a large wok burner or a big heater is added now.

Salt air near the water eats outdoor gas fittings

Homes facing Lake Macquarie and the streets just behind them sit in salty air that corrodes garden taps and tank hardware, and an outdoor barbecue bayonet or an exposed heater connection takes the same punishment. A green-tinged fitting on a lakeside deck is not cosmetic; it is the next leak starting.

Gas Questions From the Lake Streets

Do I need a licensed gas fitter to swap a cooktop in Eleebana?

Yes. In NSW only a licensed gas fitter may connect, test and certify a gas cooktop. A cooktop fitted by someone unlicensed has no compliance certificate, which can cause trouble with your insurer after a fire or leak.

How often should gas fittings be checked on an older home here?

The easy rule is a check each time an appliance is changed, plus a look at any heater before the first cold night of winter. Outdoor bayonets and fittings close to the lake wear faster in the salt air, so give those the closest attention.

Can you run a new gas line out to a barbecue or pool heater?

Yes. New runs to outside bayonets, pool heaters and fire pits are routine gas fitting work. The price includes digging the trench or clipping the pipe along a wall, the pipe size the appliance needs and the final test, all fixed before the work begins.

What should I do if I can smell gas inside the house?

Get everyone out, leaving the doors open, and keep your hands off switches, plugs and appliances. Make the calls once you are outside. The gas network's emergency line handles a smell at the meter; a smell inside the property is where our gas leak work starts.
