Burst Pipe First Steps While You Wait

A burst flexi hose can dump a lot of water quickly, so the first move is yours, not ours.

Stop the supply

Shut the main stop tap or the meter, and if neither can be found, close the valve at the hot water unit and keep every tap shut. Once the flow is stopped, unplug and lift anything electrical off the wet floor and open windows if the water has reached carpet. Then ring us and describe what let go.

What we do when we arrive

The plumber cuts off the damaged section, empties the line and fits a new hose or length of pipe. If the burst has flooded a floor, we check the fittings nearby too, because hoses fitted at the same time age at the same rate.

What Counts as a Plumbing Emergency?

Anything that is actively getting worse or puts the household at risk. The faults that will not wait for morning:

  • A burst pipe, or a split hose spraying inside a cupboard or behind the washing machine.
  • Sewage rising through a floor waste, shower or toilet.
  • A gas smell inside or around the meter.
  • A total hot water failure with no hot tap in the house working.
  • Rainwater flooding the garage or running beneath the floor in a storm.

Leave a dripping washer or a sluggish basin for business hours, where the weekday rate applies.

What Happens After You Ring

  1. 01

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4063 3469 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 02

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 03

    Made safe, then fixed

The supply is isolated, the failed hose, valve or pipe is replaced from van stock, and the repaired line is pressure-checked.

  4. 04

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

How Is an Emergency Job Priced?

What sets the figure on an urgent job:

  • The hour you ring After-hours visits have their own rate, stated on the call before we book.
  • Where the failure sits A split hose under a vanity is quick to reach; a line under the floor of a house on the slope takes longer.
  • Stock or special order A standard valve comes off the van; a part for an old tank may have to be tracked down.
  • What the camera shows Footage after a sewer clear can reveal a broken joint, and that changes the honest fix.

The Faults That Wake Eleebana Up

Storms hit the low streets hardest

In a heavy Hunter storm, the stormwater network along the foreshore can surcharge, and water pushes into garages and under floors on the low-lying blocks near the boat ramp. That is after-hours work, not a job for the morning.

Renovated kitchens hide aged hoses

Plenty of kitchens and bathrooms in the estate-era houses have been updated, but the flexi hoses feeding their taps are ageing, and a burst one floods a floor fast. Replacement hoses travel on the van for that reason.

Tanks from the first build

Hot water systems that went in with these houses in the late seventies and eighties are long past replacement age, and one can quit overnight. A temporary tank keeps the showers warm until the new unit is fitted.

When We're Not the Right Call

A choke in the sewer main under the street is for Hunter Water to clear, so if the camera puts the fault past your boundary, their faults line is the call. A gas smell right at the meter goes to the gas network first: get outside, leave the switches alone and ring their emergency number from the footpath. Any pipe inside your boundary is our job.

What Customers Say

I commend them for their very fast and efficient service when we had a burst pipe.

Where the Urgent Work Connects

  • Blocked drains Sewer and stormwater chokes, with the camera used before and after, sit on the drains work hub.
  • Hot water failures Dead units, leaking tanks and loan tanks are on the hot water page.
  • Gas smells and leaks Detection and repair on the house side of the meter, covered on the gas leak page.
  • Hidden leaks Damp walls or a water meter that keeps turning with every tap shut, traced on the leak detection page.
  • Property managers After-hours faults at rentals follow the process for agents and tenants.

Questions From These Streets

Are you available overnight in Eleebana?

Yes. We are Available 24/7 for burst pipes, sewer backups, gas smells and hot water failures, weekends and public holidays included. Night visits carry their own rate, and we quote it on the phone so you can decide before booking.

What should I do about a burst pipe while I wait?

Close the main valve by the meter, or the isolation valve closest to the burst, then unplug anything electrical near the water. On the sloping blocks here water runs downhill quickly, so roll a towel along the lower doorway. Then ring us.

Is a blocked sewer an emergency?

It becomes one once sewage appears anywhere on the property. A sink that drains slowly is weekday work. A toilet that gurgles while the shower tray fills with dirty water is after-hours work, especially on the low blocks by the foreshore.

Does the after-hours rate change the fixed quote?

No. The rate is named before anything is booked, and from there the figure is fixed. The invoice matches the number you agreed to, whether the job happens at lunchtime or after midnight.
